  • Três Corações

Two entries ago, I posted some pictures of the farm I went to on my vacation. It is located in Três Corações. Last year only took pictures of the farm, but now I took some of the city. It is pretty a small one, especially compared to São Paulo city and maybe that is why I find it a nice place as well.

Três Corações is a city in the south of Minas Gerais state in Brazil. Founded in 1760, the city has a population of about 70,000 and covers 826.0 km². Três Corações is the birthplace of football legend Pelé.

Southern region,São Paulo State in right below Minas, The Estate of rio De Janeiro keeps it away from the sea

By the year of 1760, the Portuguese Tomé Martins da Costa had settled down on the Rio Verdes’s right bank to explore gold. After some years he built a big farm and started the construction of the “Santíssimos Corações de Jesus, Maria e José” (Joseph, Mary and Jesus‘s holy hearts) chapel.

In 1764 the Minas Gerais governor, D. Luiz Lobo Diogo Silva, visited Tomé M. Costa and noticed some small houses near by.

In 1790, Captain Domingos Dias de Barros, Tomé’s son in law, built a bigger chapel on the site where the old one stood.

So the village has been known as Três Corações (Three Hearts in Portuguese) because of the name of the chapel (hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph).

That is the political and official history. There is also the popular history that says there were 3 women who lived in Três Corações. They were very “popular” and every cowboy who passed by the region fell in love with them.

There is also the explanation that the river that passes through the city forms the shape of 3 hearts along its course.

I didn’t take many photos but I guess it is enought to have an idea of the place. The city is about 5-minute drive away from the farm.

Below, the Statue of Pele. Ok, they dressed it in Santa Claus… I know, I know… Terrible…

  • magic…

I awaken to the sweet sounds of birds lazily chirping for the morning suns rise,
They do this everymoring as if awaiting some sweet suprise,
And the dews on the leaves of the maple sit stubbornly on its leaves holding everyones dreams,
And there i lay in a state of serenity, pure serenity, and I smile with a gleam in my eye,

Magical things happened last eve and I shall not forget the warm breeze,
The soft damp sand laying quietly under my feet as we walked so carefully,
Your hand draped loosely around mine so warm and right,
The feel of your damp salted lips caressing the nights air,

I shall never forget and never want anything more from that moment,
It felt like a sleepy dream on a king’s bed with gold all around you,
The warmth of your soul is still fresh in my head and revives my soul everytime i ponder about it,
And it leaves me longing for more, more of you, more of your love, and most of all more of your heart.

  • Trip

Oh, yes, about my 7-day trip to the farm…. Third year in a row that I spend Christmas and New Year´s there. I don’t get tired at all. Each time there´s something nice to know about, to learn about and also something nice to to. This time I could get my mom to join us for the New Year. I could also realize  how the teens grow fast, most of them were already dating… I also got convinced that I do need a better cam or even a digital camera. My pictures are so blur! So sad I have been living by myself and now things are too much more expensive. I´ll see what can be done about that. Anyway, Our Christmas was sunny as usual. Eventual rains to freshen up air and put away bugs were welcome.

Below, two pics from the view I had where I used to read. On the first picture you can see Duke, the farm dog. He´s sooooooo adorable….

The Christmas tree full of gifts….Hehehehe

My friend with the bell to let us know dinner was ready. On the left, her husband. Funny man!

    Everybody….

    Duke and Maggie

The men cooking… I could only enter there to “steal” some wine and take this picture….

A part of the living room. Some people playing cards…

Before the Christmas dinner we all sat together for a Devotional. On Christmas, we talked about what it means to be Christians in a world like this, and the main reason we were there together. We mentioned the importance of the birth of Christ and His death, what many people ignore or don´t even know about. Before New year´s our main idea was to think of the importance and the difficulty of living as Christians. Hard task if one has not got the understanding of God´s words, that  may answer why I´m hooked on it.

And I could rest a lot. I had a very stressing year, and this one won´t be different. The difference is that I kind of know what is to come, so that I can be more prepared.

Next blog I´ll post more pictures of the city near the farm. It is the city where Pelé was born, that might interest a bit.

    Take care
